The six-bedroom, luxury beachfront villa, Puri Nirwana, is located well away from the hustle and bustle of mainstream tourism on Bali's southeast coast, complete with a private self-contained spa, and a 16-metre swimming pool set within exquisite gardens complemented by spectacular ocean views. This plantation-style, wheelchair-friendly mansion, complete with elevator, blends Mediterranean, Moroccan and Dutch-colonial design, and accommodates up to fourteen adults and eight children. Furthermore, as one of the very few villas in Bali designed to be wheelchair/disabled friendly, Puri Nirwana presents wide doorways and passageways, flat surfaces and huge easy-to-negotiate bathrooms, as well as an elevator between floors. It is ideally suited for families with children as four of the king-bedded rooms are equipped with a queen-sized, children's trundle bed underneath the main bed-frame, accommodating two kids in each, while an additional queen-size bed is situated in the upstairs living room.
Layout
From the entrance, guests proceed to the sitting room, which has floor-to-ceiling French-style folding doors opening to the pool and garden. Adjacent to sitting room is the formal dining room and next is the entertainment room; another set of French doors leads from here to fully equipped kitchen.
Three of the six air-conditioned bedrooms, including the master, are situated downstairs, and three are situated upstairs. Each has an ensuite bathroom. Also located upstairs is the lounge, complete with a bar and dining table. The lounge also doubles as an optional seventh bedroom.
This six-bedroom beachfront villa has been built to make the most of the natural ocean breezes, while its spacious layout means that a large group of people could stay here and still lose one other in its depths.

Indoor Living & Dining
The formal entrance to this country colonial-style beachfront villa is lined with display cabinets filled with a collection of interesting curios and unique artworks. From the entrance guests proceed to the living room where they can chill and relax in comfortable sofas with floor-to-ceiling folding doors opening onto the patio, a manicured lawn, the swimming pool and the beach beyond. The breeze will flow through to the windows, which overlook beautiful orchids, an abundance of greenery and a trickling water feature.
Adjacent to the living room is formal dining room with a stunning solid wood dining table that seats 24. Adjacent is the air-conditioned entertainment room, which offers a spacious area with some design magazines and books, board games, Sony PlayStation console, and a satellite-channel television with a home-theatre media system.
French doors lead from the games room to the kitchen, which is fully equipped with the latest in dual gas ovens, hot plates, a glass storeroom, a room-length extractor fan system, and twin state-of-the-art refrigerators.
Outdoor Living Areas
Extensive gardens wrap around the property, fronted with a glass wall to ensure a full view of the ocean. Perfectly situated in various corners of the garden and villa are private getaway seats and sofas. Outdoor facilities include a dedicated children's activity area and two fish ponds filled with exotic koi fish, catfish and tortoises. A beautiful Buddha statue presides over the reflection pool, while the trickling flow of the water feature provides a perfect focus for meditation and relaxation.
Manicured lawns lead to the 16 x 5 metre beachside swimming pool and adjoining Jacuzzi. The pool is bordered by a timber deck from where guests can watch the waves crash on the sand, while lying back on the outdoor sunbeds or bean bags, or in the cushioned relaxation bale. An alfresco dining pergola draped in passionfruit vines offers the ideal spot for evening cocktails or dinner at a table for ten.
Bedrooms
Puri Nirwana's huge and luxurious, air-conditioned Master Suite rests on the ground floor and is furnished with a four poster king-size bed. Folding glass doors open to the front lawn and glorious views extend all the way to the island of Nusa Penida. The enormous ensuite bathroom acts as an additional spa facility and is suitable for disabled guests with its walk-in rainshower, an oval bathtub and twin washbasins. A portable massage bed can be placed here on guest's request.
Accessed by wide verandas, and featuring marble inlaid floors and ornate ceilings, each of the four air-conditioned guest suites (two downstairs and two upstairs) is situated in the Garden Wing. Each is furnished with a king-size bed complete with a queen-size trundle bed underneath. Large louvre doors can be opened to allow the cool ocean breezes to permeate. Each ensuite bathroom is fitted with a walk-in shower and large bathtub.
The Ocean View Suite rests within an annex on the upper floor of the villa. Furnished with a four-poster king-size bed, sofa and writing desk, and decorated in white, the room is fitted with picture windows and glass doors that open to a private balcony with a glorious ocean view. The adjacent bathroom is fitted with a rainshower and is shared with the adjoining lounge – a delightful breezy room with folding wooden shutters, 180-degree-views, a huge semi-circular sofa, a bar, and a dining table for six. There is also an entertainment corner with a sofa, armchairs, a satellite-channel TV and a DVD player. A queen-size netted bed provides the option of a seventh bedroom cooled by natural breezes.
SPA
Hidden within Puri Nirwana's tropical gardens is an antique, wooden Javanese 'joglo' house with intricate carvings and a high trapezium-shaped roof. This romantic building is Puri Nirwana's on-site spa. Staffed by professional therapists and equipped with twin massage beds and an open-air bathroom with a copper bathtub and Jacuzzi, treatments include massages, scrubs and facials, conditioning hair treatments, manicures and pedicures.

Location
Puri Nirwana is located well away from mainstream tourism in the tiny, traditional village of Cucukan on Bali's southeast coast. Bordered by rice fields, maize and tobacco plantations, papaya, banana and coconut groves, the villa is blessed with spectacular sea views extending towards the beaches of Sanur and Nusa Dua, Nusa Penida Island and Mt Agung.
Here, guests can experience the authentic side of Bali and mingle with the local villagers as they go about their day- to-day lives. Cucukan Village is home to around 200 Balinese who have lived for generations in this area. With its secluded proximity to the rest of the island and not a great deal changing over the years, this tiny village has achieved its own special identity. These gentle Balinese farmers, who tend their rice fields, geese, ducks and pigs, are also expert fishermen who set out in the early hours bringing back an array of fresh lobster and delectable seafood each day. The windswept black sand beach is popular with surfers but the rips can be dangerous for swimmers.
